Dear Meadow Wood parents,
I want to give you a quick glimpse into our transition campus. I have heard lots of interesting ideas about our temporary “digs” – so I thought it would be nice for you to hear a first hand impression. I took an extensive tour (along with administrators and teachers) a little over a week ago and was very impressed.
First, let me tell you that the classrooms (where our children will spend most of their time) are much bigger and nicer than I had envisioned. They’re all outfitted very nicely with new carpet, cabinetry, countertops, bulletin boards, magnetic dry erase boards and ActiveBoards (the classrooms without ActiveBoards – Kinder, specials, etc. – each have a 37” flat screen monitor). Each room has a few screened windows and brand new A/C & heating units. Quite frankly, they’re far nicer than the classrooms on our old campus. Clean, bright and roomy!
All the walkways between the buildings are covered – so the children will be protected from the sun and inclement weather. The bathrooms are large, clean and well positioned on the campus. The cafeteria is the same size (if not bigger) than our old cafeteria and is completely separate from Westchester. The gym is twice the size that we’re used to and is currently being repainted and re-floored for us.
I’m telling you all this to be sure that you have accurate information about our transition campus. I implore you to contact me (awhite96@comcast.net) or Principal Robye Snyder (Robalyn.snyder@springbranchisd.com) with any questions or concerns about the campus. I truly believe that everyone will be pleasantly surprised at how nice the campus looks.
Since the transition campus will be our new home for a year or so, our wonderful teachers are working hard to make their classrooms cheerful and happy places to learn; and PTA is working hard to bring our special Meadow Wood charm to the outside of the buildings. We have big plans, but need lots of hands to help add color and personality to our new campus! Please contact me (Alison) if you would like to help. We’ll be painting and hanging banners around the campus to help students, teachers and parents identify each classroom; planting flowers and working on beautifying the empty area in the front of the school (a reserved space for extra buildings meant to accommodate a larger student body once we move out and Frostwood moves in). We’re looking for picnic tables with umbrellas, a large indoor/outdoor carpet and anything else you can think of to make this outdoor classroom area more appealing and useful during our stay.
I hope this gives you a good idea of what our campus will look (and feel) like when you arrive for a new school year – just 4 weeks from today! Again, please contact me with any concerns or questions – and let me know if you’ll be available in mid-August to help beautify and bring charm to our transition campus. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your summer!
